1. Let's talk about education. What can you tell me about the system of education in Belarus?
I think the level of Belarusian education is high enough and it provides a person with a good knowledge. Today Belarusian educational system includes pre-school education, general secondary school, vocational education, secondary special education, higher education, research education (postgraduate), adult education and staff retraining (lifelong education), special education (for people with disabilities). Pre-school education is not compulsory in Belarus but around 70% of children attend kindergarten before they start school. Most children in Belarus start school at the age of 6. School education in Belarus consists of elementary ( or primary), basic and secondary school.  The five-year basic secondary school is compulsory. Upon completion of grade 9 students have to take the examinations to receive the certificate of basic education.  Basic school graduates can continue their studies at colleges or professional technical institutions where they can focus on completing their high school education and work toward a professional certificate. At the end of grade 11 (general secondary education) students sit the final exam and receive the certificate of general secondary education. Completion of a high school or professional certificate allows students to apply to continue their education at the university level. Belarus has one of the highest student-to-population ratios in Europe. The higher education system in Belarus is seen as prestigious due to its high quality and affordability.   Most courses run for 5 years and students can choose to study full time, at evening classes or by correspondence. All higher education establishments are governed by the Ministry of Education in Belarus. In May 2015 Belarus officially joined the Bologna Process – the European Higher Education Area.
2. Does your school differ from any other school you know?
I think my school is the best one. It offers excellent facilities, high teaching standards and a friendly atmosphere. It is very spacious and light. Everything depends on people who are by. Our teachers, my classmates are people who I like and this fact makes my school different from all the others.
3. Ask me what problems I had when I was a student.
Did you like to study?
What was your favourite lesson and why do you like it?
What was the most difficult lesson for you? Why?
How did you overcome the difficulties?
Did you have any problems with your teachers?......
4. You are talking with a British student. What would you advise him/her to do to prepare for an exam well?
First of all, if you want to do well at your exams you should attend all your classes, work hard at the lessons, make notes, because when you put down the key points, you memorize them better. What is more, you should do your homework properly and regularly. It would be wise to make a revision timetable before the examination. If you organize your time properly, you will feel more confident, and will be more likely to get good grades. Whenever you feel under stress, you should take a break and do something relaxing for a while. And finally the night before you sit the exam, go to bed early. If you follow this advice, you will pass your exams.
5. Today some young people want to study abroad because they believe that the level of education is higher there? Would you do the same?
More and more people think that studying abroad is prestigious and it is better to study in Europe than in Belarus. And I can agree with them. However, I think if you want to live in Belarus, you should study there. The knowledge you can get in our country is more suitable for work in Belarus because laws and paperwork are different in different countries. Moreover, studying abroad is very expensive even if your get it free, most universities demand fluent English. As for me I could study somewhere abroad if I had much money. Why not?

1. Let's talk about education. What can you tell me about your school?
Everybody remembers his school all his life and can make a long speech about it. My school is a three-storied building of a modern design. Surrounded by a colourful sea of flowers, trees and bushes, it looks like a big white ship. There is a large stadium and a sports ground in front of it. On the ground-floor one can see cloak-rooms, workshops for boys, a large canteen, a small gym, a library and classrooms for junior forms.
On the first floor there is the teachers’ room, physics labs, a big gym and our Headmaster’s room. There is also a school hall where we have meetings and parties. Here there are also two workshops for girls, four classrooms for Belarusian, two classrooms for Russian and an English study.. In general, there are 13 English studies in our school. Besides, there are 2 computer classes on the first floor.
As for the second floor, you can find numerous mathematics classrooms, chemistry labs, history studies, botany and geography studies and so on.
In a whole our school makes a good impression. There are nice curtains on the windows, a lot of flowers on the window sills, pictures and decorative sets on the walls. The halls are full of sunlight. We are proud of our physics, chemistry, botany and English labs. They are equipped with tape-recorders, TV sets and other necessary things.
At school we acquire deep knowledge in various subjects, such as Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Russian and Belorussian languages and literature, History, Geography, and English. As I’ve said, we’ve got all facilities to acquire scientific knowledge and computer and trade skills.
2. Do you agree that Belarusian secondary school provides a person with good knowledge? Why (not)?
I entirely agree with it . School provides us  with a certain amount of knowledge in science and humanities.  We study a variety of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology,  the Belarusian and Russian Languages, English. Students  can attend optional classes in different subjects in order to pass centralized tests and enter universities or colleges. At school  we make friends, gain interpresonal and leadership skills, develop moral qualities, learn to get on with different people, overcome difficulties, set priorities, develop our talents and skills.
3. Ask me whether I liked school when I was a pupil.
1. Did you like school when you were a pupil?
4. What ideas from Belarusian school can you advise a teacher from Great Britain to use in British school?
I don’t think it’s a good idea to be intrusive. First of all, I’m not a professional person in the sphere of education. Secondly, it would be more reasonable to have some kind of experience of real British education. And only then, if I were asked, I would be able to suggest something.
5. Today some young people think that having a good education is not very important. Do you agree with them?
In my opinion it is very important to have a good education nowadays because we live in a fast changing competitive world. It is extremely important to be able to find your place in this world, to be able to adapt to constantly changing conditions.  A good education can become the foundation of your career.  Good education develops your ability to find information, to think creatively in order to solve problems. While studying you will be in touch with intelligent, cultured,  original people, which is a very beneficial experience. To sum it up it is very important to have a good education.

2. Does your school have any traditions?
Our school has a lot of exciting traditions. It has become a tradition to open a new school year with  the’ First Bell ‘ holiday. In the morning on the first of September the first and eleventh formers parade in front of the school. The headmistress, teachers, pupils, parents greet the children and wish them success in studies.
Every first Saturday of February we celebrate the School-leavers Reunion Day. School leavers of different years come to our school and speak about their school years and share their life experience with us. Then schoolchildren  give a concert. It’s usually a very interesting and useful event.
Of course such parties as New Year, the 8th of March are celebrated with great amusement as well.
One of the most important traditions of our school is the Last Bell  holiday, when the 11th forms say good-bye to their school, thank their teachers, ask children to love their school, to keep carefully its traditions. Flowers, the words of greeting, love and respect are seen and heard in every corner of the school.
To sum it up I think our school has a lot of traditions that students and teachers should keep up carefully.
3. Ask me about my school life.
1. Where did you study?
2. What did your school look like?
3. How many floors were there in you school?
4. Who was your teacher of English?
5. What memories about your school do you value most?
4. What can you advise a student who is not very good at languages to do to achieve better results?
People say: “No bees, No honey.” That’s why I advise a student who is not good at languages to attend optional English classes, read more English books, watch English films, listen to different educational programs, songs, read in English to achieve better results. The Internet can offer such a student a great variety of activities to improve English.
5. Nowadays some young people complain that they have lots of problems at school. Do you agree with them?
Why not, it can be true about some young people. But they just don’t want to study. They may not like teachers or subjects or timetable or what not. They are always complaining about their huge home tasks or something else. There may be two reasons for such behavior: either they are lazy or depressed. As for me, I will never forget my school years. I think they are full of exciting events and funny moments.
