1. Now let's talk about customs and traditions. What can you tell me about your favourite holiday?
As a lot of other people , I like holidays. It is not only a day off, but also a great opportunity to spent time with your relatives and friends.
We have so many holidays and each of them has its own special features. As for me my favourite holiday is New Year. I think it is the best holiday of the year. On this day people gather together with their nearest and dearest, discuss the best moments of the past year and hope for sth new in their life in the next year. Children are waiting for Grandfather Frost to get presents.  All the atmosphere of New Year is fantastic. Our houses are full of different bright decorations that make us fell happy.  The best conclusion of this holiday is fireworks. All people go out or stay near windows to enjoy the beauty of fireworks.
After all of that we realize that a new period of our life has started.

2.Do you find some British holidays and traditions special? Why (not)?
British nation is considered to be the most conservative in Europe. It is not a secret that every nation and every country has its own customs and traditions. In Great Britain people give more importance to traditions and customs than in other European countries.
There are a lot of interesting holidays in Britain:
1.Harvest festival
2.Swan Upping
3.The trooping of the colour
4.The State Opening of Parlament
5.Bonfire Night
On November 5,1605, a man called Guy Fawkes planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament where the king James 1st was to open Parliament on that day. But Guy Fawkes was unable to realize his plan and was caught and later, hanged. The British still remember that Guy Fawkes' Night. It is another name for this holiday. This day one can see children with figures, made of sacks and straw and dressed in old clothes. On November 5th, children put their figures on the bonfire, burn them, and light their fireworks.

As we can see this holidays make the life of people richer and happier, make them feel proud of their country, its history and culture.

5. Do you think it is important to follow our grandparents' traditions? Why?

Of course it's very important to follow our grandparent's traditions. Cause traditions is a part of our culture. So we should observe them to respect our ancestors. And I want to say that old people always have what to say, so it's a good idea to take them into consideration. But we shouldn't blindly follow their ideas. Because it's our history and culture. It is a part of our life.
I'm shure that anu nation will be able to stay alive untill they remember their own traditions and history.

What British national souvenirs will you recommend a Belarusian tourist to buy?
Great Britain is a wonderful country with its unique culture and traditions. And if you visit Britain, you should buy something as a souvenir to your friends and take home to remember the trip to this country. So I can recommend a Belarusian tourist to buy some souvenirs connected with the history or with its historical places. A lot of people prefer to buy magnets as a present to their friends. A tourist can also buy small statues of famous buildings of London. For example, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and so on. Sweet souvenirs are popular with tourists as well. As we know, the British are great lovers of tea. It would be great to buy real English tea or crockery for a tea ceremony. A toy can be a good souvenir too. A Belarusian tourist can purchase a toy double-decker, a toy red telephone box, or a Paddington teddy bear. If a person is interested in fashion, he shoud buy a Scottish kilt.  I’m sure a tourist will be able to find something exciting to buy in Britain.

Are you proud of our national holidays and traditions?
We have such holidays as Kypalle, Independence Day, Dazhynki, Dzedy, Victory day and Easter. All of these holidays have their own rituals and customs. Belarusian customs and traditions characterise Belarusians and their attitude to ancestors. It’s natural when a nation respects the traditions of the past and the people are proud of their cultural heritage.

Which holiday celebration in Belarus will you recommend your British friend?
I will recommend my British friend The International Festival of Arts "Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk", the most  interesting and exciting festival in Belarus.  It is an annual festival held in Vitebsk  since 1992.Its main program is devoted to Slavic music. The main participants are artists from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, countries of the former Yugoslavia, Poland and Bulgaria with guests from many other countries, both Slavic and non-Slavic. One of the features of the festival is its aura which is changing the life of Vitebsk. The town becomes the real cultural capital of the Slavonic world.

I think that if my friend from England will visitvisits the festival he will be able not only to listen to real Slavic music but also get a lot of great impressions.

Would you like to take part in a British holiday celebration? Why?

Yes, I would like to take part in a halloween celebration. Halloween celebrations in the United Kingdom include parties where guests are often expected to arrive in a costume to reflect the day's theme. Other people gather together to watch horror films, either at home or at a cinema. Some children go trick-or-treating. This means that they dress up and go to other peoples' houses, knocking on the door for treat of sweets or a snack. Those who do not give out a treat may be tricked with a joke instead. Also there are various symbols are associated with Halloween. The colors orange and black colours are very common. Other symbols include pumpkin lanterns, witches, wizards, ghosts, spirits and characters from horror films. Animals associated with the festival include bats, spiders and black cats. Bats, spiders and black cats are associated with this holiday as well.
I think that it's a very interesting and funny holiday it would be great to take part in its celebration.

1. Let’s talk about Great Britain. What do you know about this country?
Great Britain is situated on the British Isles and includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The climate of the country is mild and changeable. British people joke that they have no climate, they have weather. Great Britain is a highly developed industrial country. The biggest industrial cities are London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. The capital of the country is London. (you should add more information)
2.What are the state symbols of great britain?
The flag of the UK is known as the Union Jack. It has its history. It all began in 1603 when Scotland was joined to England and Wales. The flag is made up of 3 crosses. The national anthem is “God Save the Queen”. The national currency is pound. Every country has its own national emblem. The red rose is the national emblem of England, the thistle is the national emblem of Scotland, the daffodil and the leek are the emblems of Wales and the shamrock (a kind of clover) is the emblem of Ireland.
3.What would you like to ask a British teenager about Britain?
1)What do you usually have for breakfast? (WHY? Change the question)
2) What is the place you would recommend me to visit?
3) What is you favourite place in London?
4. Give me a piece of advice on what sights to see in London.
There are a lot of interesting places in London. Among them there are: Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge, the Tower of London. But I advise you to visit the following sights.
The London Eye is a major feature of London's skyline. It is the world's highest observation wheel.
You can also take a tour around the Tower of London, one of the world's most famous buildings.
5. Do the British differ greatly from Belarusian people in character? Why?
I think the British differ from Belarusian people. The English are believed to be very reserved, which means that they don't talk much to strangers, and don't show much emotion. A reserved person never tells you anything about himself. But we can tell everything about ourselves and our family to a stranger.British people are famous for their habit of politeness; they keep their old traditions and are very proud of them.

1. Let’s talk about Britain. What do you know about this country?
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the official name of the British Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Each of these countries has its own language, its capital and its government.
Britain’s population is over 57 million. The main nationalities are: English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish. The UK is a parliamentary monarchy: the queen is the head of state, but in fact she doesn’t rule the country, as she has no power. The real power in the country belongs to the British Parliament and to the British Government.
The territory of Great Britain is small, yet the country has a wide variety of scenery.
The climate of Great Britain is mild.  The Atlantic Ocean and the warm waters of the Gulf-stream affect the weather of the British Isles. The summer is usually cool and rainy. There is much rain and fog in autumn and in winter. Great Britain is a very damp country.
Great Britain is a highly industrialized country. New industries have been developed in the last three decades. The main industrial centres are London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow l.
2. What are the state symbols of Great Britain?
The flag of the UK , known as the Union Jack, is made up of three crosses. The upright red cross on a white background is the cross of the  St. George, the patron saint of England. The white diagonal cross on a blue background is the cross of St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. The red diagonal cross on a white background is the cross of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The Welsh flag, called the Welsh dragon , represents a red dragon on a white and green background.
A red rose is a flower  of England, a thistle is a flower  of Scotland, a shamrock is a flower of Northern Ireland, and a daffodil is a flower of Wales.
3. What would you like to ask a British teenager about Britain?
Are you happy to live in Britain?
What would you recommend me to visit your country?
What is your favorite place of Britain?
Can you tell me sth about the history of GB?
4. Give me a piece of advice on what sight to see in London?
There are a lot of places of interest in London. One of the oldest and the most famous buildings is connected with William the Conqueror. It is the Tower of London. He started building it in the 11th century. It was used as a fortress, a palace and a political prison. Now it is a museum. Another wonderful building is St. Paul’s Cathedral. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London which took place in 1666. Another place that is certainly worth seeing is Buckingham Palace where the Queen lives. A very colorful ceremony – the Changing of the Guard takes place there every morning. Everyone should also visit the Houses of Parliament where The British Government works. Westminster Abbey is the crowning and burial place of British monarchs. It also has its world famous Poets’ Corner where many great English writers are buried. Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London. Nelson’s Column stands in the middle of the square. Opposite the monument one can see the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. They contain the finest art collections in the world. So, you'll find a lot to see there.
5. Do the British differ greatly from Belarusian people in character? Why?
Of course yes. A great part of our characters is absolutely different. It is because we live in different countries, have different culture and traditions and the main thing is that we have different attitude to life and to people around us. The British are famous for their tolerance and specific sense of humour, yet they don’t always say what they think and can be intentionally rude.

1. Let’s talk about Britain. What do you know about this country? The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the name of the country which is situated on the British Isles. I have always been fascinated with its capital, London. Professor Higgins is said to have been able to distinguish different accents so well that he could locate the place where a person lived within two streets in London. Every year thousands of emigrants come to live in the country so I don’t think that he will be successful nowadays. Emigrants change not only the language but the way of life in Britain. Real Britain can’t be found in books and maps can hardly be of help. Seeing once is better than hearing a thousand times.
2. What are the state symbols of Great Britain?   The British Flag, known as the Union Jack, is a combination of 3 flags: the Saint Andrew`s cross (the Scottish flag), the Saint Patrick`s cross (the former flag of Ireland), and the Saint George`s cross (the English flag).

3. What would you like to ask a British teenager about Britain? What do Britons usually have for breakfast? What is the place you would recommend a foreigner to visit? What is you favourite place in London?
4. Give me a piece of advice on what sights to see in London. To my mind the London Eye is the best way to have a brisk look at London. The double decker is a good way to have a closer look at them, but if you are in a hurry you should limit the number of places to visit. If you are crazy about fine arts he should visit the Tate and the national gallery. The British museum is a must for those who are crazy about history. Hanging around is not my way of exploring the unknown but if you don’t mind you can go wherever you want and you will find something interesting to look at and make up a story later.
5.Do the British differ greatly from Belarusian people in character? Why?
Between Belarusian and British I see some common characteristics, many Belarusian people as well as many British people think of their land as great and strong and the best on in the whole world. But the British can be particularly and stubbornly conservative about anything British. They are rather proud of being different. It is, for example, difficult to imagine that they will ever agree to change from driving on the left-hand side of the road to driving on the right. It doesn’t matter that nobody can think of any advantage in driving on the left. British people are obliged by society stereotyping to be polite. British do not as a rule express their real feelings. And Belarusian people are free to express their attitude, they are more sincere. But anyway, there are plenty of things that I like about British: their humour whatever it hides, I like the British breakfast, English tea, gardens, romantism and the English language.

We often see other nationalities as having a set of characteristics which set them apart from others. The British are famous for their tolerance and sense of humour, yet they don’t always say what they think and can be intentionally rude. They are especially preoccupied with their houses. As the proverb says, “An Englishman’s home is his castle”. We differ a lot because of our different languages, customs, traditions and historical development. These are the factors which influence greatly on characters of people.

London has a lot of exciting places on each taste. From some historical places, like the Tower of London which was used as a fortress, a palace and a political prison to the London Eye, the place for fun, from the Houses of Parliament, the places of the main government in the UK to Trafalgar Square, which is the geographical centre of London. So, you'll find a lot to see in London.
5. Do the British differ greatly from Belarusian people in character? Why?
Of cause, yes. All nations have there own traditions, ways to communicate, the accent and so on. You can be impressed by English tolerance and formality, and they can be impressed by Belarussian spontaneity and even rudeness. The British are very different than from Belarussians.

I can reccomend you to visit such places as The Tower of London and Big Ben.
The Tower of London is the most famous of all the historical buildings in London. It stands today almost unchanged since first it was built in the 11th century. In the past the Tower of London served both as a palace and as a state prison, but it is only a museum today. “Big Ben” is the name of the great bell which strikes the hour. It is in the clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament.

2.Is it easy to study at british school?
3.What are the most popular holidays in Great Britain?
4. Give me a piece of advice on what sight to see in London?
London has many places of interest. One of them is Buckingham Palace. It's the residence of the Queen. The English are proud of Trafalgar Square, which was named so in memory of the victory at the battle. There in 1805 the English fleet defeated the fleet of France and Spain. The last place of interest I would like to mention, is the British Museum, the biggest museum in London. The museum is famous for its library -one of the richest in the world. So, you'll find a lot to see there.
5. Do the British differ greatly from Belarusian people in character? Why?
I don’t think that British people are reserved. They are very friendly and willing to talk to, very polite and easy-going.I can say that British people like their homes very much. House is very important for British people.About 70 per cent of them have their own houses. Most homes have a garden in which  British spend a lot of time growing flowers and looking after the lawn.English not only love their homes but also their pets. Many people keep cats, dogs, budgies and other animals at home. They are completely crazy about pets and obsessed with the conditions in which animals are kept. (And Belarusians?)
