MY SCHOOL

Everybody remembers his school all his life and can make a long speech about it. I like my school and want to tell you about it. It’s school №10 in Soligorsk. It’s a three-storied building of a modern design. Surrounded by a colourful sea of flowers, trees and bushes, it looks like a big white ship. There is a large stadium and a sports ground in front of it. And a plot with a garden behind. On the ground-floor one can see cloak-rooms, workshops for boys, a large canteen, a small gym, a library and classrooms for junior forms.
On the first floor there is the teachers’ room, physics labs, a big gym and our Headmaster’s room. There is also a school hall where we have meetings and parties. Here there are also two workshops for girls, four classrooms for Belorussian, two classrooms for Russian and an English study.. In general, there are 13 English studies in our school. Besides, there are 2 computer classes on the first floor.
As for the second floor, you can find numerous mathematics classrooms, chemistry labs, history studies, botany and geography studies and so on.
In a whole our school makes a good impression. There are nice curtains on the windows, a lot of flowers on the window sills, pictures and decorative sets on the walls. The halls are full of sunlight. We are proud of our physics, chemistry, botany and English labs. They are equipped with tape-recorders, TV sets and other necessary things.
At school we acquire deep knowledge in various subjects, such as Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Russian and Belorussian languages and literature, History, Geography, and English. As I’ve said, we’ve got all facilities to acquire scientific knowledge and computer and trade skills.
Schooling is free, universal and compulsory in our country. Its mission has become teaching the whole child which includes such terms as academic growth, moral strength and physical development. So our teachers not only give us basic knowledge of sciences. Our school provides high quality education, so that all our pupils have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
History, English, Literature and Maths are my favourite subjects. I am especially good at Literature. I always get good marks for compositions and dictations and attend optional courses in Russian. The most difficult but the most important subject for me is English, because it will help me in my future life. I have problems with listening and spelling. I suppose, I should listen and read more English texts. I’ll try to do my best.

Education (additional material)

As for Belarusian schools there are various types of schools: general secondary schools, schools specializing in a certain subject, high schools, and gymnasiums and so on. Secondary school consists of middle and upper stages.  At the middle stage of secondary school children learn the basic laws of nature and society at the lessons of history, algebra, literature, physics and many others. After the 9th form pupils have to sit for examinations getting Certificate on Basic School Education. After finishing 9 classes of the secondary school the young people can continue their education at different kinds of vocational or technical schools, colleges. They not only learn general subjects, but receive a speciality there. Pupils, who finish the general secondary school, receive a secondary education certificate, giving them the right to enter any higher educational establishment.
Having finished a secondary or a vocational, or a technical school, young people can start working, or they may enter an institute or a university. By the way, some people think, that professional trainings makes it easier to get a higher education. As for high schools, there are a lot of them in our country.  There are ….There are universities, so-called "institutes", academies in Belarus. Some of them train teachers, others - doctors, engineers, architects, actors and so on. Many universities have evening and extra-mural departments. It gives the students an opportunity to study at an institute without leaving their jobs at plants or factories. There are degrees in Belarus equivalent to those of bachelor's or master's. Students spend approximately five years in universities or six in a medical institute. To be admitted to an institution of higher learning, one has to pass a series of written tests. Entry to higher education is quite competitive.

The Educational System in The Republic of Belarus
School in Belarus starts on the first of September. Classes usually begin at 8 and are over at about two. Children go to school 5 days a week. But some children go to school on Saturday. Schools don’t have names, the have only numbers. 10–grade assessment system has been introduced in order to enhance individual approach to pupils and students.
Belarusian children start school at the age of 6 and finish at 17. As a rule, a child attends the school located in the neighborhood, the one which is the closest to home. However, in big cities there are also so-called "special" schools, offering more in-depth studies of languages (English, French, or German), or the advanced courses in physics and mathematics, and children attending one of these may have to commute from home. The first stage of education is elementary school for grades 1 through 4. They spend four years studying at such schools. Their school subjects are Russian, Belarusian, Maths, Arts, Handicrafts, PE and some others. Children are not divided into groups. They don’t pass ability tests, and there are no examinations to enter the secondary schools.

a) What is the role of school in modern society do you think?
Education is very important in our life. And the role of school in modern society is undoubted. An educated person is one who knows a lot about many things. He always tries to learn, find out, and discover more about the world around him. He gets knowledge at school, from books, magazines, from TV educational programs. Our republic is reforming its system of education today with the aim of creating an independent, qualitatively new national school, corresponding to international standards and ensuring each citizen the right to the high-quality education according to his abilities and inclinations. The object of education is to prepare the young ones to educate themselves throughout their lives. The role of modern school is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character should be the goal of modern goal.
b) What are the qualities of a good student in your opinion?
To me a good student is not always the student that gets a 10. Some students can get a 10 without even trying. A student is someone that wants to learn and study to make himself better. Self-discipline is of the utmost importance. If it is not present then few of the other qualities will be found. Self-Discipline means that they think about their words and actions and then make choices that are right for themselves and for others. Another very essential quality is respect for others. They will treat others the way they want to be treated. Destroying or taking someone's property and harming it would not be something they would do. They work hard and don’t give up when it gets tough.  Citizenship is found in good students as well. They obey the rules and work to make the community, a better place. They are kind toward others and help them instead of knock them down. They make choices that help them be the best they can be. They do what they think is right and work at doing their best. I’m sure trustworthiness is a must. They are truthful and sincere.
I hope I have some of these qualities.

I live in Solihorsk, and as many children, I go to school. I study only on weekdays. I have 6 or 7 lessons every day.
I usually get up at 7 o’clock. Then I wash up, drink tea, collect different stuff into my schoolbag, dress myself and go to school.
My day in school begins from giving my jacket in the closet. Duty children tell me a number using which I get back my jacket.
At recess I can go to the buffet. After 4-th lesson, we eat in the school canteen.
I have after-school classes almost every day.
I like my school and cant find sth bad about it.

I usually get up at 7 o’clock. Of course it’s too early for me. You can say “Why? ” I’ll answer: «I like to sleep so much, and I usually go to bed very late. So at 7 o’clock I feel myself sleepy. For that reason I drink a cup tea to wake up more quickly. Then I get dressed.I’m in a hurry. But I try to have a snack (sandwiches, eggs, porridge and so on). I need to be at school (university) at 8.00. . I usually go to school by myself.

So I’m at school . I usually have 6-7 lessons . I like to study, but sometimes it is boring. Sometimes i have extraclasses. . At school ) I usually have a dinner. I go to our school canteen. It’s There's rather tasty food in it.

At 5-6 o’clock I like to play with my friends. We usually go for a walk. We like different parks. Sometimes we watch films, play computer games and discuss the latest news.
e In the evening I usually do my homework. Sometimes I do homework till the late night. And then I go to bed. But some days I try to have a rest before my sleep.

And undoubtedly, I’m looking for forward to a wekend. Weekend is a marvelous time for all pupils and students. It is a time for a good rest. I try to relax in full force and effect.

On At the first lesson my biggest wish is a sleeping. Usually my lessons end at 2 p.m. Sometimes I can seeobserve funny moments or sittuations at school. In general my day goes perfectly. But if I get a bad grade, my day goes down to the "Mordor".
Of course, every day I want weekends. But weekends are so fast. And when weekens end, I should tune myself to study.
And even though my school life sometimes have has bad moments, however I love this time and I love my school. So, if you ask me, which school you should send your children to learn, I would advice you the 10th school.

№ 1 question 2
Do you agree that Belarusian secondary school provides a person with good knowledge? Why (not)?
Generally speaking, I should say that children have got good opportunities to get good knowledge. Scientific and intellectual potential is the main strategic resource of Belarus. The republic guarantees its citizens the right to universal secondary education and creates means for further professional education. It tries to pay much attention to common human values, developing independent critical thinking instead of simple perception of information.

Our system of education has been reforming for many years probably because the aim of the reform is rather global: to create an independent, qualitatively new national school corresponding to international standards and ensuring each citizen the right to the high-quality education according to his or her abilities and inclinations. The main principles of the educational system in Belarus are the priority of human values, national culture as the basis of education, humanism, sense of ecological purpose, scientific basis, support of gifted children and others.

№ 2 question2
Do you agree that our school gives a person a good start in life? Why (not)?

Education plays a very important role in our life. It is one of the most valuable possessions a man can get in his life. We get our knowledge of this world and life through education. Many famous discoveries would have been impossible if people were not interested in learning something. Education develops different sides of human personality, reveals his abilities. Besides, it helps a person to understand himself, to choose the right way in this world.  During all the periods of human history education ranked high among people. Human progress mostly depended upon well-educated people.

The aim of our secondary education is to learn social skills, to develop critical thinking, to develop understanding of other people, to prepare for life in the workplace and many others.

Thus, those people who has got determination, persistence, self motivation will succeed in their future life.

Today some young people want to study abroad because they believe that the level of education is higher there. Would you do the same?
Our country has a well-regarded educational system, professional teachers and fully equipped laboratories in every university and college. That’s why I would study in my country. I can only add that there are a lot of highly-educated scientists, artists, sportsmen in our country. They receive their education in our country. And a lot of foreign students come to Belarus to study there. Our education is valuable all over the world.

№ 3 question 5
Nowadays some young people complain that they have lots of problems at school. Do you agree with them?
There are always people who complain about something. The same thing happens at school. Personally, I don’t like these wet blankets. They may not like teachers or subjects or timetable or what not. They are always complaining about their huge home tasks or something else. There may be two reasons for such behavior: either they are lazy or depressed. To tell you the truth, this group is not a numerous one. I try to avoid such people.

I’m definitely sure that each person defines some goals he or she wants to achieve, because life without aim is pointless. Different people set different goals, but whatever goal helps a person to develop and progress in life.

It is extremely important for me to find a good stable job after graduation which will give me pleasure and satisfaction as well as help me to solve my major money issues. People spend half of their lives working, that’s why I believe that the job which I like will make me happier and fill my life with special sense. It is not only money but also respect. That’s why I want not only to find a good stable job, but to become a professional in my sphere. To achieve this goal I study hard at school and get additional knowledge from educational books, professional forums on the Internet, etc. While I’m at school I try to study as much theory as possible because I suppose that this knowledge can help me a lot when I will study in the university.

Family is another important goal in my life. To my mind harmony and mutual understanding in the family is essential for a person to feel happy. I’m sure that your family members are your best friends who will always support you, understand and help with advice. Family itself can be compared to a tree – its seed should find good soil and under favorable conditions it will grow into a strong tree which is firm enough to survive any storms and winds. But I think that all family members should make efforts to create such friendly family.

I believe that these two goals can help me to become successful and happy in my future life. They are long-term goals and to achieve them I need to work daily. Besides, I certainly have various short-term goals like for example to pass my exams with flying colours. But all small goals I have help me to achieve the main goals of my life.

A person needs to achieve certain goals in his life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals which you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. Some of these goals are personal while others are professional. My professional goals in life are get a good education, find a job that makes enough money for me to support my family and makes me happy.

It is very important for me to get a good education. Most of good jobs need a good education. If I don't have an education I would not be able to work properly at the work place and I would not understand what to do. Education is the first and foremost way to become successful, because the job I will choose will need me go to school and maybe even beyond college.

My personal goals are to create a good family and to make a comfortable and cozy house for my family. I think that family are people, who love you and who can help you anytime. And I think if you have a family, you're a lucky man. And if you want that you and your family will be more happy, you should to have a comfortable and cozy place to live.

There are my goals for the future.

Everyone dreams of something and sets goals. I am not an exception. I also have my own goals. But I think that my goals can be divided into 2 categories. In the first category I can include goals, which I could achieve soon, for example to get 9 in chemistry, buy fireworks for New Year and so on. The second category is challenging goals that I want to achieve in the future. And probably about these goals and I'll tell in details.  From the very beginning I want to finish school well. Nowadays it is very important to get secondary education. And maybe I want not only finish school well, but also get great results in Centralized testing. 2 these points will give me  a good opportunity to enter  a prestigious university. Therefore, as you might have guessed, I want to go to university and finish it. Today it is difficult to imagine life without education, since you will not be able to find a good well-paying job. So I want to find a good job. Ideally, I'd like to have a job that did not have to do much  and used to get a lot of money. But I understand that in the original it is very difficult (almost impossible) to find such  a job, so I just want a  work, from which I will enjoy, on which I will not dream of  quickly ending of  my working day, a  work with a friendly team.
And of course I want to have a family. I am sure that everyone dreams of it. Our family is a mainstay in our lives. It  supports  in difficult situations and  helps us . I can not describe in detail how I want my husband to look like. In fact I have not even decided how many children I want to have, but I think that I will make the decision in the future . I dream of a strong and happy family. It is wonderful when  you come  home after work, and understand that you are being waited.
So I have named the most desired goals that I want to achieve in the future.

A person cannot set the goals and dreams on the basis of others, he needs to achieve his goals for himself. The goals should be realistic to be a success: to get a good job, a good education, to support the family.
If we set our goals clearly and estimate ourselves impartially, we’ll succeed in moving towards our goals. We not only set goals but learn how to achieve them. I am planning to grsduate from high school with good marks. It will help me to enter university and get the job I like and make career. My job will help me to support my future family.

My goal is critically important to me. My main goal is to go to university. In secondary school I strive to get good grades. I would like to finish secondary school and go to university. At the university i want to have a good grades and receive a scolarship. Finally, I would like to finish university with good grades. Then after graduation, I would like to keep yourself stable. I would go back to my hometown to live, and I would also like to be able to save some of my friends from secondary school and university. I would like to be very successful, but do not bother and mess up my life.
This is my goal and the future!

I have many goals for myself to complete. One of my goals that I hope to accomplish in the next month is to finish at least half of my coarse work. I plan on working really hard within the next month to do this. Some of the things I am doing that will help me finish this goal is working whenever I get the chance to including on weekends and holidays.
Another goal I hope to finish by the end of the school year is to make a decision on what university I am going to be attending. This might take a little while yet because I haven’t really made a choice weather I want to go and get a four year degree or just start out with a two year degree so it has a big have an impact on where I am going to go. I know   I want to go into the medical field but unsure of what I want to do. The first step to completing this goal is to make a definite decision on what I want to be. After this step I can choose a college that fits my career perfect. The last step in this process is to go to all of my visits and finally enrolling as a student there.

I adore ball games, most of all football. This is a very interesting game, full of excitement. She came to us from England, although in ancient Egypt and the Maya were similar ball games. Today football is the most popular sport in the world.Millions of people play football in their free time and billions watch the world championships.Professional players, football stars became idols of nations. This sport develops speed, quickness, accuracy and endurance reactions.Footballplayers are very seasoned people, because they chase the ball in the open air from early spring until late autumn.Personally I also play football. I am a Soligorsk Shakhtor goalkeeper. In future I want to become a famous footballer and play for the best club in the world!

To my mind, goals are very important in our live. Due to the fact that we put any goal, we will strive to do so, despite the obstacles and troubles. Each person has his own goals. A goal can be "large" or "small". "A large" goal represents any big vision for the future, which may affect the fate, for example admission to the university, the choice of a life partner or others. "A small" one represents small activities. Going to the store, doing homework - all of such ones are "small" goals.

As for me, I cant say sth about my "large" goals. My only goal is to successfully finish school. To finish it I must be a good student. To achieve it I must listen in class, be attantive, wotk hard and so on. If I dont achieve it, my all dreams of future will be destroyed, but, If I pass my exams well, it will affect and help my future 'large' goals, for example admission to the university. Implementation of each goal helps to bring about a different purpose. After admission to the university, I must graduate from it well too. Then, I will have to find a good job. During the implementation of these goals, I have to find friends and love.

These are my goals for the future, and I think, if I try, I will achieve them.
